Carpet Cleaning Preparation

!±8± Carpet Cleaning Preparation

Getting ready for your carpet cleaner. "Get ready cuz her I come." Rare Earth, 1970.

Sometimes carpet cleaners and clients forget the prep work. Most cleaners are so glad someone's actually called them, and they forget to mention that someone, could be anyone, needs to pick up before the cleaner comes.

I cleaned for one family. You couldn't see the floor for all the toys and crap on the rugs. Not real crap-maybe some sour cheerios and stuff but not...you know.

It took me and Jump up Johnny the better part of an hour helping her pick up before we could clean up. We also hauled an old sleeper sofa out to the dumpster, but my back was already outta wack so that one doesn't count.

Love your carpet cleaner and think through their eyes. Their goal is to give you lovely fresh carpets. Help them do their job by having your daughter pick up her bras and underwear before they get there. If your dog has pooped on the carpet you can pick it up just as easily as your cleaner can. A little love might get you a free pair of booties or bottle of spotter.

Pick up stuff off the floor. Move small tables and chairs. Make it a little easier on your poor cleaner. He's grateful even if he doesn't say so, okay? Okay.

If you want to save money vacuum before the cleaner gets there. Move your car out of the garage before he gets there. You know, the car you suddenly have to get out after he's strung his hoses up to the third floor and then he has to come all the way down because you forgot to pull the Volvo out before he got there. Yeah, that car.

Leave him the slot closest to the house so he can pull in and do his thing.

If you've got a cat that's a runner and you're worried they'll bolt when the noise and scrubbing starts, please put it in a crate, a carrier or someplace with a locked door on it. Your cleaner may forget you asked him not to open that particular door when those chilly cheese fries start acting up. I cannot catch a cat that does not want to be caught.
